Teachers, parents should place importance on facilitating friendships

Susan Y. Meisel presented Hadden Award at Hanna Perkins benefit

Susan Y. Meisel of Solon received the 2016 Hadden Award from Hanna Perkins Center for Child Development earlier this month before about 250 guests in the gymnasium at Malvern Elementary School in Shaker Heights.

The semi-annual award was presented at the nonprofit organization’s “Spotlight On Our Stars” benefit, and recognized Meisel for her passion and devotion to its mission of supporting healthy emotional development in children.

Jewish Schools, Hanna Perkins Center for Child Development form special bond

Five Jewish preschools in Greater Cleveland are taking advantage of a program funded by Cuyahoga County that helps to identify children with special needs who act out and have trouble fitting into their classrooms.

The Hanna Perkins Center for Child Development, a nonprofit organization in Shaker Heights, sends specialists into preschools and early childhood centers to help these children.
