At some point Lightning Bug and Carol began a ritual of holding hands in the car whenever they were stopped at a red light.
She has started requesting that when I’m driving I do it too.
I reach back when we’re stopped, we take each other’s hand, both watching the light, just being silently connected a few moments, until the light goes green and she gently lets go of my hand and we pull forward.
It’s an odd lovely little gesture which I’m sure she will insist we stop doing sometime soon.
But for now it’s a reminder in the midst of the busy world that we’re both here for one another.
I treasure it.
