Carol is out of town for a week.
Lightning Bug and I go for a walk in the spring-like late afternoon sunshine.
Less than one block from our house she has somehow found a small incline of mud and slipped down it, covering her bottom and hands.
She looks tearfully at her hands and says, “I don’t like this.”
“I agree,” I say.
And while I am fishing out a tissue to begin clean-up, she wipes her muddy hands all over my jeans.
Things are going well.
