Hanna Perkins Center for Child Development announced a $2 million gift honoring Kim Sherwin’s legacy during its Oct. 7 Harvest Homecoming benefit.
The gift is HPC’s largest philanthropic donation to date, and honors Sherwin, who died Aug. 8, 2022, at 82. She had previously established the Kim Sherwin Fund to benefit Hanna Perkins, which focuses on mental health care for children, according to a news release.
“Our staff and board are incredibly grateful to receive this substantial gift from a woman who has so generously championed support in our region for children’s social-emotional development,” HPC CEO Karen Baer said in the release. “It will help position Hanna Perkins as the premiere center for early childhood development, becoming the contemporary voice of child-appropriate mental healthcare and education in Northeast Ohio and beyond.”
