Hanna Perkins School is accepting teacher applications for Preschool and Kindergarten.

Responsibilities

The teacher will be responsible for working together with the current teachers in planning and implementing a developmentally appropriate curriculum in a classroom of no more than 10 students. The teacher will also work cooperatively with child therapists and parents to individualize educational expectations, approaches and interventions according to the specific needs of each child.

An introduction to Hanna Perkins School’s unique approach to supporting the emotional development of children is provided through mentoring by a seasoned director and experienced teachers, in-service training, and meetings with therapists.

The Hanna Perkins approach, utilized for over 60 years, involves team work between parents, teachers and child therapists aimed at providing each child the foundation needed to master life’s challenges. This work is guided by an understanding of the importance of relationships, the inner life of children, and behaviors as communication of feelings.


Time Commitment & Salary:

  • Annual School Year August – June
  • 40 hours per week; 8 am-4 pm Monday-Friday; (class time 9 am-1:30 pm)
  • Salary negotiated, full benefits included

Requirements

  • Have or working toward a degree in early childhood or special education
  • Ohio teaching license
  • Some previous teaching experience
  • Strong interest in learning about the emotional life of children, and a natural empathy and pleasure in working with young children and their parents.
