
We are (spoiler) a very verbal family.
But there are moments, like this morning, when I am at the counter in the kitchen slicing apples to put in oatmeal and she is nearby on the floor doing a jigsaw puzzle of puppies and a duck.
And I pause to just silently watch her.
And she looks up to meet my eye.
And she smiles at me.
And I smile back at her.
And we both go back to our jobs.
And that is perhaps worth more than any words I’ll type this week.
