Creating an Emotionally Safe Preschool Classroom: Responsibility, Respect, and Relationships

This training is part three of Helping Children Express Their Mad Feelings. This training helps teachers recognize when and how children lose their loving feelings due to anger and redirect children to help them regain their loving feelings towards others.

Previous parts of this class are not required prerequisites.

Objectives

Participants will provide 2 experiences to discuss and analyze: one when they have lost their loving feelings with a friend or family member; 1 when they lost their loving feelings for a student. Identify way in which they got their loving feelings back.

  • Competency: 2.3 Seeks to identify causes of challenging behaviors and uses guidance approaches that promote positive behaviors, problem solving and self-control.
Participants will identify 2 examples of how they observed a child lose their loving feeling and be prepared to discuss: 1. What circumstances caused the loss 2. What was the identifying behavior you observed 3. How did you help the child regain their loving feelings and apologize.

Participants will write one story for preschool children, providing an example where a child would use their loving feelings. Using the 4 steps discussed during training, share with the participants how to help the child get their loving feelings back and feel good about themselves.
