Participants will learn how to effectively model empathy and kindness in their classroom by using words to convey the message of respect to children and families.

Objectives

Participants will discuss the importance of creating a respectful classroom and the positive abilities it helps children develop.

Participants will review and discuss ways to provide a resPectful toddler/preschool environment, considering developmental expectations and cultural backgrounds. Examples of kind words will be given.

Participants will have scenarios to choose from, or share one of their own and present how they would resolve the situation with respect and kind words. Participants will have an opportunity to reflect and share comments about the presentation.
