Socialization between children can be an important part of life. In their early years, children socialize with their parents, caretakers and, possibly, each other.
Twins, or triplets, may socialize with themselves and need extra encouragement to go beyond what they know and is comfortable for them.
Bob Rosenbaum, marketing director at Hanna Perkins Center for Child Development in Shaker Heights and the father of twins, explained his experience raising twins, who are now in their 30s, and what he learned along the way.
“It’s important to remember that each child is an individual,” Rosenbaum said. “Even identical siblings will have their own preferences and styles of socializing.”
Each person, twins and triplets included, has a different personality, so one sibling may be more outgoing or more sensitive than the other, he explained. They may exhibit different social cues and different points in their lives, as well, he added.
