Creating an Emotionally Safe Preschool Classroom: Responsibility, Respect, and Relationships

Part 5 of a 5-part series, this training helps early learning professionals/parents help children manage frustration, set limits, and promote self-control by using their “inside helper”. Participants will identify when they have observed frustrated children in the classroom and explain how they helped the child identify their feelings, control their angry feelings, and make the necessary corrections that will make the child feel good about themselves.

Previous parts of this class are not required prerequisites.

Objectives

Participants will identify 3 activities that promote self-control in children. Participants will also define how these activities align to ELDS and the social-emotional development of young children.

Participants will discuss and share how they feel when frustrated. Participants will be able to identify 4 ways frustration affects future child development.

Your Inside Helper participants will discuss the children’s story and identify: -how to introduce the story to a class -(2) examples of how the story helps a child develop self-control -relationship between self-control and a positive self image.

Participants will discuss and identify ways to help a child -calm down -identify their feelings -identify the why of the frustration -problem solve to identify how to fix the mistake -acknowledge the feelings after correcting the mistake.
