Symposium/Forum With the exception of 2004 when Hanna Perkins hosted the annual meeting of the Association for Child Psychoanalysis, during every spring since 1985 we have hosted a conference at Hanna Perkins that has come to be known as our “Symposium/Forum.” To our Symposium we invite a small group of child analysts and colleagues who visit and observe in our therapeutic preschool and kindergarten. The experience enables them to see first hand how our teachers work with the children in their care and to hear how our therapists and teachers form a team to work with the parents of the children in our school. The Forum portion of the weekend features the annual John A. Hadden, Jr., M.D. Memorial Lecture and presentations focusing on clinical and applied psychoanalysis. During the past 20 years a number of psychoanalytically based schools have been developed as colleagues around the country have come to recognize the value of applying psychoanalytic child development theory in this practical way.
