    Unique Chamber Music Event:

Takács & Ashkenazy at Hanna Perkins, Oct. 12

Swiss clarinetist Dimitri Ashkenazy will headline an exciting lineup of world-renowned and emerging musical stars for an evening of chamber music by Takács & Friends, 7:30 p.m., Friday, October 12, 2007, at Hanna Perkins Center in Shaker Heights, Ohio.

Ashkenazy has performed as a soloist and a chamber musician, appearing with the Kodály and Brodsky Quartets, on tour with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin, and with partners including his brother Vovka and his father Vladimir Ashkenazy.

Peter Takács is a distinguished professor of keyboard at Oberlin Conservatory, who recently recorded the complete Beethoven piano sonatas for Summit Records.

He will be joined by Scott Woolweaver, member of the award winning New England Piano Quartette, on Viola, and the thrilling young Austrian tenor Virgil Hartinger, in a program including:

Mozart – Kegelstatt Trio

Gershwin – Preludes

songs by Spohr and Ravel

Hanna Perkins Center is located at 19910 Malvern Road, in the heart of Shaker Heights. 

Tickets are $25 for general seating, $40 for patron seating, and $15 for students. Tickets may be obtained by calling:

 Takács & Friends is a project of pianist Peter Takács and Jodi Kanter to bring outstanding chamber musicians together to play chamber music “as it was meant to be heard,” in intimate settings.

Hanna Perkins Center, founded in 1951, is a comprehensive child development facility with a mission of service, training, and research.  Hanna Perkins includes a school for children ages 15 months to 7 years, a Child Therapy Clinic that serves children and adolescents, a research center that continuously considers child development issues, and extension programs that provide training and consultation for early childhood educators and caregivers.

The Hanna Perkins auditorium was part of the Center’s recent award-winning architectural renovation, and is an outstanding space for classical music.
