A Letter from a Student

We often receive letters from parents or children who are alumni of Hanna Perkins. We feel these represent a form of “outcome study.”

An example of such a letter is as follows:

 Dear Mrs. H.,

I do not know if you will remember me, I attended Kindergarten at Hanna Perkins.  I wanted to drop you a line to let you know how much you touched my life and to thank you for your kindness and understanding.

Over the years I struggled with school, but steadily improved.  After high school, I pursued my dream of becoming a teacher.  I am now twenty-four and entering my third year of teaching.

I just wanted to let you know that it was because of teachers like you that I learned I had the ability to achieve all of my dreams and aspirations.  I am thankful that there was a Hanna Perkins and a wonderful teacher who inspired a little girl to become a teacher against all odds.

It is my hope that I will be able to give my students the gift of inspiration, as you have given it to me.
