About Us

Our roots go back to 1951, when Dr. Anny Katan founded what came to be known as the Hanna Perkins School. This innovative therapeutic nursery school, originally housed at University Hospital, was established to help children with developmental problems and to train child development and mental health professionals and educators. This vision has proved to be a strong and lasting model for our internationally renowned school and clinic. The programs of Hanna Perkins Center are based on knowledge of the importance of the inner life of children and the ways in which emotions influence behavior. Through the teamwork of therapists, teachers, and parents, our unique approach continues to provide the highest quality of service to children and families and excellent training for professionals. Research generated from these endeavors has had an impact on work with young children across the country and around the world.
